Wake Up!
I am seeing a theme here! These were all taken in the last week or so. Preparing for lack of sleep perhaps?

Keegan Says the Darnedest Things
So Keegan is ridiculously talkative and chatty. Sometimes he can go on for like 5 minutes telling us some tale or giving us the entire synopsis of Caillou. Other times he is just really silly and random. He totally cracks me up.
I woke up feeling like I was coming down with something and was a bit worried about keeping up with him today but he got hit by the sweetie pie fairy and was extra cute today. Here are some of the gems:
My archenemies are the roosters and chickens that like to terrorize our yard. I was resting on the couch and Keegan opened the back door and yelled "Shooo chickens! It is quiet time!!!"
He took a dish towel and started running in circles and yelling: "BOISE STATE! BOISE STATE! THIS IS MY FLAG! I AM A BAND!" He might be a bit obsessed.
Totally randomly he came and sat next to me and said: "Mommy, I am French. You are French too. Daddy is not French. BONJOUR!!!"
I was having a contraction and grimaced and he asked what was wrong. I told him it hurts to get ready for the baby. He put his face next to my belly and said "Brother, don't hurt Mommy k? It not nice!"
He brought me a pile of books and told me he was going to read to me and I would not be sick anymore. It was really funny and sweet listening to his versions of his favorite books.
And the very best thing he did today: coming up to me and wrapping his arms around my neck and saying "I love you soo much!"

Ch-ch-changes!
So, I've been feeling pretty cranky the last couple of weeks. I feel bad for Craig and Keegan having to live with me. The last year itself has been extremely challenging for us and adding a high risk pregnancy to it has not made anything simpler. Obviously there are no guarantees that ANYTHING in life is going to be easy. Sometimes though it just seems like things pile up. I have tried to be positive and think of all the really amazing and good things that have also happened.
However, now that I have a few weeks left I am feeling so ready to be done. I totally forgot how uncomfortable things get at the end. No position is comfortable, the heartburn makes it seem like there is a dragon breathing fire in you instead of a cute little baby, you live in the bathroom, it feels impossible to grow anymore, it feels like an Olympic sport to just paint your toenails...Thus, I have been impatient and short-tempered. I am so grateful I have a sweet, patient husband who brings me the random food I crave, helps clean, drags me to appointments, encourages me to go and take a long bubble bath when he knows I am worn out and will take Keegan out on a Daddy/Son date when he can tell I really need a break. I am so lucky!
Today I had a check up and an ultrasound. Baby is so healthy and much to the surprise of my doctor he was measuring near 5lbs which puts his size around 2 weeks bigger than he would be based just on my due date. This is a big deal to us because there has been a fear since I was 11 weeks along and diagnosed with Hyperemesis that he would be underweight and face risks due to my inability to eat and drink properly. (Side note: I know I have mentioned it in the past but if you are not familiar with it, read up on it. It is important for pregnant women or women trying to conceive to know what it is and what to look for. www.helpher.org )
I have been in awe all day. It just really reaffirmed for me how resilient babies are. Despite the fact that there have been so many risks and challenges this little guy is proving to be so healthy, big and strong which fills me with relief and immeasurable gratitude.
Because of his measurements and our having to stop labor twice in the last two weeks it looks like this little guy is going to follow in his big brother's footsteps and come early and big. Keegan was born at 37 weeks and was 7lbs 15 oz and healthy as can be. I guess this one is already trying to copy him! Our OB says I am just prone to early labor and big boys. :)
I am beyond excited to meet this little one! Our bags are already packed and ready for a moment's notice (especially since it takes around 30 mins to get to the hospital) and now that things are really starting to seem like they will be moving quickly we are trying to get the house organized and set up the changing table, bassinet etc. in time.
Another thing boggling my mind: Keegan is turning THREE in 2 weeks! How did this happen? I feel like we were just going through all of this anxiously awaiting his arrival. He is so smart and funny.
We have these roosters and chickens that are constantly in our yard and they came in the backyard today and he started yelling at them. "Shoo, shoo! You're going to get dead!" He has definitely heard me threatening to turn them into dinner. Haha. They are so loud and mess with our garden. They make me a little crazy.
He gets out the tablet and knows how to play all of these games, he knows all of his colors, the other day he was pointing out all of these letters from the alphabet and totally nailing them. He goes to the Y and has so much fun playing games with the other kids and shooting hoops with Craig. He is not a baby anymore but he will ALWAYS be MY baby. :-)

Crunch Time!
This week it really hit me just how little time we have left before we get to finally meet our little baby boy. Part of me is nervous, it kind of feels like having a first child again. It has been three years since we have done this and we have our routines and everything. Of course, then I remember that once we had Keegan it felt like we had always had him and we could not imagine life without him.
Keegan seems to be going back and forth between being really excited, and getting annoyed that all of the new stuff that keeps appearing around the house is not for him. I am sure it will be an adjustment but I just know he is going to be such a great big brother.
We have about 5ish weeks left. Wednesday we spent about 6 hours at the hospital because I was contracting pretty badly and we needed to stop it and get it checked out. They were 5 minutes apart and had lasted for 24 hours so the doctor had me go in to Labor and Delivery. Since getting my PICC line out staying hydrated has been really difficult for me because of the Hyperemesis. One of the complications at the end of pregnancy with that disease is that the dehydration causes contractions. My heart rate was too high to have the Terbutaline and other labor stopping drugs but after 3 litres of fluids, anti-nausea meds, oxygen, and potassium we got it under control.
This pregnancy has been such a challenge and I am so thankful that I have had access to excellent medical care, a patient and understanding husband, a ward that has done so much to help when needed, and a fantastic support network of other women suffering from the same complications.
The greatest blessing is that all has continued to look great with Baby Boy despite all of the complications and scares. I know that holding him in our arms will make it all so worth it.
We have been trying to get in fun family activities and do some special things on the weekends when we are all together.
Friday night Craig took me to Les Bois Junior High for their dinner theatre show. They did selections from Les Miserables and actually sounded really good! We had a great time and I got to explain my favorite musical to Craig to get him ready for when we go see the touring production this fall.
Saturday we had lunch with a good friend who was in town for the Indoor Track and Field Championships. Then, we thought it would be fun to do something special for Keegan so we took him to Jump Time Idaho. For $3 he can spend the day jumping on trampolines and bouncy houses and do all these activities. He was in heaven!
Craig and I went to the store and got a few last minute things we still needed for the baby. Craig saw all these cute Easter outfits and took off with Keegan and found him a super studly new church outfit. Keegan received lots of compliments at church! Keegan and Craig were so cute matching.
Sorry this one is so long!

Spring is in the Air!!! :)
So on March 1st I did not have a whole lot of hope that Spring was right around the corner. We woke up to probably half an inch of snow and it kept on coming down for a good part of the day.
Flash forward to the weekend and suddenly I have hope again. It has been gorgeous! So, we had a fantastic weekend full of great outside time and I also had a truly lovely baby shower thrown for me by my incredible friend Claire.
It was really fun spending some time with friends and family chatting, eating, playing games, and oohing over things for the new baby.
The weather was so nice this weekend we also spent some time at Nana and Papa's house and Keegan got to play with his cousins for a bit. We also took a walk along the river which was really great. I slowed everyone down with my waddle but it was fantastic to have some fresh air and to enjoy 60+ degree weather.
